Winter at the beach

Last weekend Scott and I decided to head out to Grand Haven. A good chunk of the lake was frozen. It was cool. A little scary, but I got some good pictures. Hey, at least we didn't end up like the Lake Erie fishermen!

Oh there are lots of people out there. We should be fine...

Uh... is that a crack? Yep, there were lots of them, not deep though, just surface cracks.

View of the beach, from where we were standing on the lake

Pretty high ice waves

Preparing to climb

What we saw when we made it to the top

Yeah, we decided NOT to climb to the other side of the waves, like that dad and 2 kids did. There was nothing visible to tell you where it wasn't frozen.

On the other side of the waves, it was just flat, as far as we could see.

a BIG crack

Uh, yeah so we saw this on our way back to the beach. It's a hole, there was no ice, you could see the water moving beneath it....It is highly unlikely we would've gone out as far out into the lake as we did had we seen this on the way there.

Those are awesome pictures! I'll have to show Jason when he gets home.

Those are possibly the coolest pictures *ever*. (Except the footprint one. That was scary. LOL!)

Dave loved the wave ones too...how cool are they!
