Walk America 2008

Getting ready to leave for our walk. We wore our shirts from last year... but it didn't matter, couldn't see them when we were there anyway....

Trying not to look like crazy people. The guy in the blue coat, behind Scott's shoulder is Bill Steffen, on of our local weather guys. He was the announcer there. Yay a GR celeb!! lol

Not prepared for the temps as low as they were. We were expecting low 50s, not high 30's windchill in the 20s. Booo!!! And just to think 24 hours before this it was 83!

They had quite a few mascots there. This is Griff, he's the mascot for the Grand Rapids Griffins hockey team.

people in the parking lot, dancing to some cheesy songs to try and stay warm.

Apparently this is the mascot from a restaurant called Red Robin....

Not quite sure who this is. There was another one we didn't know either. I was convinced it was people in old costumes to try and stay warm... didn't really look like mascots of anything...

Getting to the starting line. Most of our balloons blew away.

Oh I think you can see the other "mascot" it's a deer. Center of the picture.

And our favorite Mongo Man from Mongolian BBQ!!! I bet Scott money the wind would tip him over... he stayed on his feet though.

Finally! The ribbon has been cut and we are off!!

Walking....

Walking....

Walking....

One of the many ponds, waterfalls, etc along our journey.

And we are done!!!!

They didn't have any signs or anything up like at the Columbus walk. No where to put Ry's name.... We'll have to go to Columbus next year!!

More pictures!!!

This poor guy had a missing leg :(

This is on one of the long trails we walked on outside.

Thats all for now!!

Pictures!

Hello, not much going on lately. Just been working and enjoying the BEAUTIFUL weather!!

Here are some pictures.

The picture above, and below are from our big rainstorm a few weeks back, behind our apartment was completely flooded!

And, here are some pictures from the zoo.

This is the new lion exhibit they are working on. It's opening this summer!

These pictures are from Frederick Meijer Garden. Scott and I went this past weekend to see the butterflies!!! But, you all know by now how much I love taking pictures, especially of flowers!!!

This is some type of cactus, I thought it looked cool, like snakes or something.

I have quite a bit more, but I'll have to post those later- gotta go back to work!!

quick wedding post.

This is just a quick copy and paste from WOLU about what has been going on for those that don't go to the other site.

Quick post. Still not much going on. I've browsed around online, and worked a little on the program fans. I figure I'm getting an early enough head start, I mind as well at least try to do them myself. Scott has been doing really well on saving up money. Me, not as much- but he got tax money back, I didn't. But we are making slow progress.

I now can't decide if I want a late afternoon Saturday wedding, or an early afternoon Sunday wedding. Obviously Sunday would be cheaper, but Saturday would be easier on everyone traveling and we'd be able to get sunset pictures.

Oh, speaking of pictures- I've been looking at quite a few photographers. I'm a huge fan of photography, and am willing to spend a good chunk of our budget on it. Here are the photographers I've looked at. They are all local GR area photogs. So, check out the galleries and give me your opinions!!

I like him! Very reasonable prices. And you get the copyright release (VERY important to me)

Not sure if I like this one as much. But they are pretty cheap.

lots of good reviews on the GR board of theknot.com. Great photos and good prices.

Great photos! Our age girl and guy pair, both would be there, very nice- emailed a little back and forth. But, BIG CON- VERY $$$$$. Most likely will not choose them. For the cost, the pictures aren't that much better than others.

Same as Ben Harrison. Great photos. Have emailed back and forth. Very nice. But very expensive.

Oh also, as of now. Our flowers will be gerbera daisies, pink and orange, and possibly other bright colors. It is possible I'll change my mind again. But for now, these are the flowers I want.

i think that is all for now.

Sorry, I've been AWOL

But, I'm back! Scott has been home at night during the week, so I don't really spend much time on line. Big news at work this week, unfortunately I don't really feel comfortable posting about it on here. According to the boss man, only he, his parents and I know this big news. Oh and another lady in the office knows a little. But, who knows if people from there could get on here. So I'm not posting anything right now. Lets just say, there will be big changes soon. And for me, it will be good big changes!!

That is about all that is going on. Tomorrow Scott and I are going to go to the Gerald R Ford Museum and the Grand Rapids Art Museum downtown. We haven't been to either before, and it's suppose to be rainy and kinda crappy this weekend, so we thought that would be a good way to spend it.

Lets see... what else. Oh, I bought a $4 worth of scratch off lotto tickets at Meijer the other day. On one of those I won $5. I'm not so much one to stop while I'm ahead so I bought 5 easy picks for the Mega Millions tonight. It's funny, usually I don't play unless it's like 200 million or so. Not quite sure why. Probably because when it is that high they talk about it on the news. Then it reminds me I should buy one. But usually I don't buy them. The jackpot now is only 27 million. I don't mean only like it's a little amount, just smaller than what it is when I usually play. But, they are drawing the numbers soon. So by the time you read this, I probably am either filthy stinking rich- or out my $4, plus the $1 I won. We'll see :)
