Our trip to St. Ignace!

Day 1

Our first view of the bridge!!

Our hotel room

The deck. One of the few things we did not like about our hotel. The decks were not maintained very well. There were sea gull feathers and spider webs everywhere! And the patio furniture was old and dirty. The other thing we didn't really like was that you get into our room from outside. Which is no big deal, we stayed at a Best Western near Cedar Point that was like that. This hotel however, has a light outside each door, that we can't shut off. We got back one night and the door was completely covered with bugs!!! We ran inside but a bunch got in. So we killed those, then Scott when back out and soaked our door in bug spray. The next night.... no bugs :)

But... we can't complain too much about the hotel, the view of our "backyard" was beautiful!

This is our hotel. We were on the top floor in middle.

Me at the slots!

Scott's artistic bridge photo.

One of the few pictures I actually took of the beautiful outdoor mall in Mackinaw City.

The popcorn factory! We got a bag of the Mackinaw Fruit Salad. It's fruity flavored popcorn. I've had it before. The Grand Rapids popcorn factory makes it and they gave us some at work before.

One of the ferry locations in Mackinaw City

The ferry on the right, island on the left.

Full moon up north

One of 2 night bridge pictures I have. My camera doesn't cooperate with night pictures. It was funny on the way back from taking these, the roads back to our hotel, before getting to the city, are extremely dark! I told Scott to be careful, so he didn't hit a moose or a bear! lol We had a good laugh on that one!

Day 2

HAD to post this picture again, I think it is my favorite picture I took, and it was right off our deck!

This lighthouse is in St. Ignace. We found it on our way to a Dollar Store! lol It was beautiful, but quite windy! It's right next to where the ferry to Mackinac Island takes off in St. Ignace.

The ferrys have a lot of spray behind them when they are going at full speed. They go pretty fast!

Scott jumped off the side of the dock to get me a rock. We found a pile of sparkly black rocks, so he got me a small one. It is actually pretty heavy. Wish I paid more attention in geology so I knew what it was....

Castle Rock was very difficult to walk up. Its 200 feet up, very steep steps. The first set of steps was the worst. I think there were the most steps in the first group. Then there is a rest spot. Then another group, another rest, another group, a rest, then a ramp up to the top. The view was gorgeous, but after the first set of steps I told Scott I couldn't do it. I was too fat, it was too hard. I told him I was a moron for even thinking I could do it. In the end, it was a beautiful view, but one of the most physically draining things I've done in as long as I can remember. It really shows you how out of shape you are.

I think I am part of the "some people"

OK... don't let kids read the picture that is below, it's somewhat inappropriate. But we thought it was hilarious!!!

Ok, so it looks kind of small. If you can't read it, it says "Dear Diary I went to Upper Michigan and froze my pecker off." LOL!!!!

The pictures below are from the Weird Michigan Wax Museum. Every little exhibit has a true story that goes along with it. The one below is some wolf man story.

And the Grand Rapids one!!!

This one is the Melon Head people, they apparently live in the Sagutuk area.

LOVE this picture above! I think it looks like a painting.

The 2 pictures above are from a roadside souvenir stand in St. Ignace. It had a walk way to the roof where you can take pictures.

Had to stop by and take some pics by the sign!

Then we stopped by Bessies Homemade Pasties (pass-tees) We figured they are so darn popular up here, we should probably try one. So, we got a chicken one. It had chicken, potatoes, corn and shredded carrots in something that tasted like pie crust. I guess the traditional has gravy with it, but A:) that was more expensive and B:) their gravy probably had milk. So we had it without. We took it back to the hotel and split one. They gave us a whole lot of ketchup. It was pretty good. But, I can see how it would be better with gravy.

The rest of the day we just kind of chilled. Day 2 was very busy, but we got back by 5ish, ate our pasty and took a nap. Then we went and soaked in the spa at the hotel, got changed then went back to the casino. Apparently there was suppose to be a motorcycle parade that night with like over 1,000 motorcycles, with lights on the and everything. But, we missed it. When we were on our way back from the casino there were 2 motorcycles and a cop car in front of us... I think we were at the back of the parade :(

Mackinac Island from our balcony.

Day 3

Day 3 was sad, because we knew we were leaving :( Vacation was almost over.... We checked out of the hotel then went to the Indian Museum, Scott really wanted to go.

This zoo is about 40 miles west of St. Ignace. So while St. Ignace is on Lake Huron. Garlyn is near Lake Michigan.

A reindeer chasing a goose

This guy we call Yoda Goat. When we saw him I told Scott if Yoda were a goat, thats what he would look like. lol

I was suppose to be facing the camera, but he kept trying to eat my hair.

These beach pictures are on the way to St. Ignace from Garlyn zoo. It's Lake Michigan.

Our last trip over the bridge. By the way... it costs $3 every time you go across, instead of $2, like I saw online.

Through the back window, the last view of the bridge :(

We decided to go to Petoskey on the way home. A lady at work said it was really nice. And, she was right! It was gorgeous. The water was soooo blue!

And here is our last picture. I didn't see completely what it said, so I was like "Scott! Turn around!!" He looked at me like I was nuts, but he turned around anyway. We pulled to the side of the road and saw this sign... We thought it was pretty cool!

So, that is our trip. Man that took FOREVER to post all of those!!! Comment away....
