Slow week

Not much to talk about. It's been a slow week. The only time we did anything was Thursday night we went to Grand Haven to a county park called Kirk Park. They have trails that go through the woods and lead to the beach. There are tons of sand dunes through out the park. You have to walk down this super steep sand hill to get down to the beach. But it's very nice, quiet, and considerably less busy than the Grand Haven beaches we usually go to. We didn't go at the greatest time, it was after I got out of work. We got there close to 7 pm, and the mosquitoes were coming out. Luckily we brought bug spray, so we don't have too many battle wounds. We knew when we were going down the hill-- coming back up was going to be some work, and it sure was. We had to stop a couple times on the way up, but then I got some pictures of the scenery. After we got back to the top of the hill we found some super steep steps that went to a lookout. So, we climbed up. My legs were wiggling a little at the top. lol But the view was gorgeous.

Today I think we are going to the zoo when Scott comes home from work, then tonight I think we are going to a Whitecaps baseball game. It's Star Wars night.... now if only he had a Star Wars shirt. How does he go 20 some years obsessed with Star Wars and not end up with a shirt??!?! I didn't even realize he didn't have one. But now he's kinda bummed that he doesn't have one to wear...

In other news, our Mackinac trip is officially on. We just booked our hotel. We are staying at the Quality Inn Lakefront in St Ignace. We decided to take our trip August 15- 17, and I took the 15 off of work!!! I wasn't going to, I was going to leave at lunch, but our check in at our hotel is earlier than most I've seen, it's at noon. I think it's about a 4 hour drive, so I decided not to work that day, so we just get up and go! We are stoked! We are getting a bunch of books on Mackinac from the library.

Good news for the month of August. My bank that I have my car loan through just sent me a letter saying that because I make all my payments early, they are going to give me the opportunity to waive my car payment for the month of July or August. If we weren't going any where I wouldn't waive it. But, since we are I will certainly be taking advantage of it. I'm psyched, Scott's jealous. He never pays his early, he always depends on the grace period, and thus never has gotten the opportunity.

Let's see, what else.... Oh we have been invited to 2 weddings on July 19. One is Scott's friend's sister in Jville. I don't really know them very well. The other one is a friend of ours from Grand Valley and it's just north of us. Unfortunately I don't think we will be able to make it to both. We were thinking going to the Jville wedding and the reception up here, but I don't want to risk not being able to make the one up here. We also have a wedding to go to in September, and we had some friends who eloped a couple weeks ago. I scraped up something to wear to the courthouse for our friends who eloped. But, I had to get something for the other weddings. So, I bought a dress... I ordered it online, it hasn't come in yet. I really hope it fits. Dresses tend to look pretty crappy on me. Here is what it looks like. I ordered the purple one. I ordered the white shrug too, but it's on back order.

My garden is doing well. I have several flowers on my cherry tomato plant, and I just got a flower on my cucumber plant. I had to stake some skewers to my cucumber plant though, it's growing taller than I was expecting.

And with that... on to pictures.

These are pictures from last weekend when Scott and I went to the river. There is a spot on one back road where you can park and sit by the river.

really cool cloud picture

Here are Kirk Park pictures

There were sand dunes all behind us, opposite the water. There were signs all over them saying that they are fragile and to stay off. But in the woods there is a trail where you can walk up and down steps that I think go over some parts of the dunes.

This is my camera screwing up another picture. It randomly looses it's focus. I'm looking to get a new camera. A Cannon Power shot actually. But I don't know. I love taking pictures so I want a good camera. I guess I have to browse around.

These pictures below are from the lookout

You can really tell how high we are up with this picture, we were even with the helicopter that flew by.

This was really weird. We were walking back from the lookout and saw this. It's a grave site. We could see a name written on it, but couldn't tell what it said.

Here is my tomato plant

And the runt of the bunch, my green pepper plant

All of them together.

And that is all.

A 99 cent only store!!!??!?!?!

Ok I'm officially jealous!! On the nightly news show today they were talking about the 99 cent chef. Google that phrase, you'll find his blog. Apparently he blogs about recipes he creates from stuff he buys from a 99 cent only store. They only have these stores in California, Arizona, Texas and Nevada. Maybe I should move there! They sell groceries there too! Yeah, I'd probably be a little hesitant to purchase 99 cent meat, but the produce you'll be able to see if it's good. And the cans and boxed stuff would have expiration dates on it. But anyway, there is nothing in this store for over 99 cents!

Apparently at their Texas locations they are running a promotion where you go to the store and sign up and every day for like 2 weeks they will draw one name and that person gets to purchase gas for 99 cents a gallon. Why the heck do a promotion like that in Texas???? Why not somewhere a little further from the oil fields??? But, I do think it's pretty cool at some of their grand openings they give away Wiis or Ipod nanos for 99 cents to like their first 10 customers, or something like that.

Not much going on. Theres something wrong with Scott's leg... but we don't know what. I think I wrote in the other post the docs at Hillsdale said he had an infection and put him on antibiotics. Well, last night he noticed the red area on his leg was peeling, but looked it up and found out that is a side effect of the drug. But, there was also part of his leg that looked sunken in, like dented. That was really weird. I was a little freaked out, I told him it looked like something was eating his leg from the inside out. It was real late when we noticed, so Scott said he'd wait til morning see if it looked better. When we woke up, it wasn't dented anymore.... so not sure what happened there.

No real plans for this weekend. I just got my transmission fluid changed, which cost me a not so hot $103, so that zapped a good chunk of my paycheck. We might go to Grand Haven, just sit on the beach. Apparently there is a 40% chance of rain, but near the beach it said only 20% chance.

Well thats all. Have a good weekend!!!

Scotts bday, the drive in, and Kentucky

Ok haven't been on in awhile, so I'm a little behind.

Geese wandering behind our apartment.

Scotty and the bday cake I made for him.

And from our night at the drive in:

Scott with his Amp energy drink. I had a six hour energy shot. The first movie, Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull started at about 10:15 and got over some time after midnight. The second movie, Iron Man started at 12:30-12:45 and got over at about 2:45 am. We ended up getting home at about 3:30 am. Boy were we sleepy the next day, took me quite awhile to get out of bed when my alarm went off at 7:15 am. But we had fun and I think Scott had a good birthday. Just for the reference, we liked Iron Man more than Indiana Jones. Iron Man was really good. Robert Downey Jr. was great!

The Drive in screen. Our drive in has 4 screens.

People who have gone to drive ins long ago probably recognize these. They had them and you can put them in your window. But ours didn't work. But the technology has been updated a bit and we just had to turn to a radio station to hear the movie.

Ok, on to Kentucky. Scott was suppose to come with but he ended up barfing in my car on the way so he stayed at his dad's house. I ended up having to driving through Battle Creek on 94 during a crazy storm, super hard rain, wind, hail for about 10-15 minutes. It was incredibly unpleasant. But we finally made it to dad's. It turns out Scott got sick because he has some sort of infection, not sure from what but he was saying his leg hurt , right above his ankle and he has some kind of rash on it, looks like a sunburn. It was spreading and I guess was pretty painful so he ended up going to Hillsdale Hospital Sunday night. They said it was an infection, but we still don't know where it came from. But they gave him a shot in the but and he's got 10 days worth of antibiotics to take, 3 times a day.

It was dark on our way into Kentucky- so no pictures.

Owen playing Leapster

I do not know.

An over eager Owen really wanting to get in the water at swimming class.

And the result... being taken back to the others by the teacher

And the ending result of doing it many many times... mom waits with you.

Owen being a ham while waiting for Steph and Dad to come out of the post office.

Rock wall on the side of the road.

The "ferry" we road on.

One of the best parts of our scenic drive. The guy that had a footbridge to his trailer... He parked his truck on one side, and had to walk across to get to his house.

The waterpark

Holly diving in

Our little friends who were with us the whole time at the water park. Cicadas. They were EVERYWHERE. They don't bite or sting, but they do love to jump on you.

Cicadas can't swim.... piles of dead cicadas in the drain.

Here are some pictures from our way from Steph's house, to Allison's house. Above is a cool fountain.

On the way home we ended up driving through crazy bad storms and finally made it home a little after midnight.

But, my garden survived being indoors all weekend.

And thats all. Not too much planned for this week. Scott has a friend who is getting married, but thats about all. Time for bed now... I'm exhausted.
